SCHOOLING

Where does your child go to school? Or, where are you sending your child to school?

It seems that this question gets asked a lot.  Especially from those parents whose children are about to enter into Kindergarten in the next year or two.  This is a common denominator among parents...kids and school.

When we tell people that we are sending our oldest to a Classical school, we get some really weird looks and lots of questions.  What is classical school?  Where is that?

I am afraid though that parents don't really give much attention to the WHY of sending their children to school. Why are you sending your child to public school? Private School? or Homeschooling?
I think the WHY might be more based on that parents don't want their children in the house anymore and they don't really care where they go to school and they don't give it much thought.
Or, they pick a school based on a social status: wealth, popularity, etc.
Do you send them to public school just because that is what you are supposed to do?
Do you send them to private school just because they can get a Christian influence while at school?
Do you homeschool so that they won't have to be around the things that go on in the other schools?

As a follower of Christ, I believe that the Bible has given us (parents) the responsibility to train, disciple, and educate our children. (Deut. 6.5-9, Eph. 6.4, Proverbs 1.8) So then the question now becomes what are going to do with the responsibility given to you as the parent?  What are going to do about the education of your children?

Whatever school you send them to, will that school help your child become what God wants them to be?  Now, each child has different learning styles, personalities, creativity, passions, etc., so this needs to be evaluated for every child...not just for the family.  Don't just send your kids off to a school and hope for the best, but rather do your research, pray about it, and find the place that will be the BEST place for your child; wherever that is.

It's your responsibility...what are you going to do with it!
