Anticipation Part 2

The last Anticipation post came from me and my wife sitting in a waiting room, and well...waiting.  It was filled with memories and people watching.  There was a lot of anticipation in the room.
Well, on Monday, December 6, the anticipation was a little bit different.  We were now sitting in a labor and delivery room at the hospital.  My wife was laying on the bed all ready with her IV and fluids.  And we waited.  The doctor came into the room several times each time, we anticipated good news, but with each visit, the progress was slow and we simply had to wait.
It was late in the afternoon when the doctor finally gave MB the good news...she was ready to push!  The anticipation grew stronger and stronger and with every push we were that much closer to becoming parents to another boy!  She didn't have to push long.  The doctor and nurses moved like clockwork setting the stage for the birth of our son, Bates.
ANTICIPATION at its finest was happening.  It was at 7:53pm that we welcomed Chandler Bates into the world.  His cry was beautiful and the doctors and nurses continued to do what they all were assigned to do.  I grabbed the camera and video camera and began taking pictures (like any good dad should).  We called the in-laws who then brought the older two boys into the room.  They were so excited and filled with smiles and love towards Bates.
Now, everyone is at home and there is a different kind of anticipation flowing...the anticipation of what is next...can we do this with three kids?, is this the last child that we will have?, etc.
I am so pumped to be a family of five and ready to see what God has in store for us in the future!  What a blessing to have such a great family!  I am truly amazed at how God has blessed me and my family and I only anticipate what He is going to do next in and through us.

What a great time of year to talk about anticipation...the anticipation of Mary in the birth of Jesus, the anticipation of the shepherds as they traveled to see baby Jesus, and the anticipation of the kings as they brought their gifts!  What a glorious time to reflect on what this season is truly about...the birth of the King!

Until next time...
